Late Winter and Early Spring 2016

Our Late Winter and Early Spring 2016 Adventures started with trips to Yellowstone Park where harsh winter conditions have Elk on the alert trying to survive and wolves always on the hunt looking for their next meal.

When the snow starts to melt in early spring, carcasses of Buffalo, Elk and other critters that died from the harsh winter conditions, are uncovered and provide valuable meals to grizzly bears that are emerging from their dens and for wolves and coyotes that had a lean diet during the winter.

Buffalo carcasses are pulled out of Black Tail Ponds by hungry Grizzly Bears and the carcasses provide other critters with a hearty meal for survival. The ponds are spring fed and unsuspecting Buffalo drown when they step into a spring hole that is covered by thin ice and snow.
